If you are the person who lost the money
Wapsi does not handle refund claims. Here is the official route and where to go.
Wapsi is built for account holders whose own account or money has been restricted. If you are the victim of the fraud and you are trying to get your money back, this site is not the right tool and we will not take you through a paid process for it. The official route is free and is described below.
If it just happened
Speed decides everything. Call 1930 or file at cybercrime.gov.in immediately. The faster the complaint enters the system, the more likely the money is still sitting in an account down the trail and can be held. Keep the 14-digit acknowledgement number safe.
If money was taken without any action by you
Where a transaction happened without your involvement at all — not one you were tricked into making — report it to your own bank at once and in writing. RBI's circular on customer liability for unauthorised electronic transactions limits a customer's loss where the report is prompt and there is no negligence by the customer. The Supreme Court in State Bank of India v. Pallabh Bhowmik declined to disturb a High Court direction to refund, noting the fraud had been reported within 24 hours.
Getting held money released to you
The SOP provides five alternative processes for giving interim custody of a held amount to the victim. The main administrative one runs under Section 106(3) BNSS: you check on NCRP-CFCFRMS whether any amount is on hold against your complaint, and if so apply through the Money Restoration Module. The request goes to the police station, the officer verifies, gives the account holder an opportunity to explain, and with the approval of the SP or DCP may direct the bank to release the amount to you against an indemnity bond. Amounts above ₹50,000 need the claim to be connected to an FIR. The remaining processes run through the courts.
Be honest with yourself about the odds
If the money had already moved out of the fraudster's account before the hold, the SOP says the bank is not expected to return it to you. Recovery depends on the money still being somewhere in the system.
If someone offers to recover it for a fee
Treat it as a second fraud. Victims are targeted again by people claiming to be recovery agents, lawyers, or officials. No genuine process requires you to pay a percentage of your own money to get it back.
Check my situation
Eight questions, no personal details, and you see which paragraph of the official procedure applies to you and what to ask for.
Wapsi never calls you, never asks for your OTP, PIN or password, and never collects money to "recover" your funds. Government complaint processes are free.
